ES Ingrid Seall nació en Asunción en 1975, hija de padres de origen español y alemán. Se licenció en la Academia de Bellas Artes de Asunción, donde se especializó en el taller del gran maestro escultor e ingeniero Hermann Guggiari, cofundador del Centro de Arte Moderno de Asunción y primer presidente del Centro de Escultores del Paraguay. También se formó con el arquitecto y escultor Gustavo Beckelmann, quien le transmitió el arte de la fundición en bronce y la técnica ancestral de la cera perdida. Ambos maestros son pilares fundamentales en su formación y referentes únicos en su obra.

Su trabajo se centra en la figura humana femenina, explorada a través de distintos lenguajes visuales como el dibujo, la gráfica, la pintura y la escultura. Parte de composiciones de carácter narrativo y filosófico, cargadas de simbolismo y figuras retóricas.

A lo largo de los años, ha incursionado en diversos campos del arte: es artista plástica, ilustradora, escenógrafa y escultora. Sin embargo, es en la escultura donde encontró su voz más auténtica, profundizando en el estudio tridimensional de las formas y la estética de las líneas del cuerpo humano. Pronto comenzó a experimentar con materiales que le permitieran representar mejor el movimiento en sus figuras. Guiada por Hermann y Justo Guggiari, se adentró en la escultura en hierro y bronce, realizando sus primeras fundiciones junto a Beckelmann. Posteriormente, amplió su universo material incorporando papel, cerámica, yeso, cemento, cera, mármol y bronce.

Invitada por el reconocido artista italiano Oliviero Rainaldi (1956, Caramanico Terme), se formó en Carrara, Italia, donde profundizó su investigación y desarrollo artístico.

El trabajo de Ingrid Seall revela un lenguaje visual propio, sólido y coherente. Su dominio técnico le ha permitido consolidar una firma personal fácilmente reconocible. Desde sus primeras obras, ha manifestado una profunda conexión con la figura femenina y la expresión corporal, centrándose en temas como la introspección, el paso del tiempo, la madurez y la transformación. El cuerpo es el eje de cada escultura: su objeto de estudio, su medio de expresión, el puente entre su universo interior y el del espectador. Las mujeres de Seall son figuras íntimas pero poderosas, vulnerables pero genuinas. A través de ellas se percibe una búsqueda existencial, una soledad enigmática, incluso en sus composiciones más corales.

Cada escultura es única. La disposición de los personajes varía deliberadamente, así como las pátinas que otorgan al bronce tonalidades y texturas distintas, enriqueciendo la puesta en escena de cada ser etéreo y mágico.

Uno de los temas recurrentes en su obra es la naturaleza, siempre en diálogo con la figura humana. La artista entiende la fuerza creadora como parte de la propia naturaleza: en el panal de las abejas, en la flor al florecer, en la montaña que se alza, en la vida misma. Para Seall, la madre naturaleza, representada durante milenios, encarna una energía y un carisma sin igual. Como ella misma expresa:

“Nosotras inventamos el mundo en el que vivimos. Despertamos nuestra maternidad en cada acto como una fuerza superior. Cuando seguimos esa intuición natural, ese instinto, nos potenciamos. Descubrimos que la fuerza que habita en lo que amamos nos retroalimenta… y es ahí cuando se cierra el ciclo y la energía se expande a todo lo que nos rodea."

Ha expuesto internacionalmente en Francia, México, Argentina, Brasil, entre otros países. Sus obras forman parte de colecciones permanentes en instituciones públicas nacionales, como el Fondo de la Fundación ITAU, el Patrimonio Artístico de la Facultad de Biología y la Fundación Somos Yaguareté, entre otras.  

EN Ingrid Seall was born in Asunción in 1975 to Spanish and German parents. She graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts of Asunción, specializing in the workshop of the great master sculptor and engineer Hermann Guggiari, co-founder of the Modern Art Center of Asunción and the first president of the Paraguayan Sculpture Center. She also trained with architect and sculptor Gustavo Beckelmann, who taught her the art of bronze casting and the ancient lost-wax technique. Both mentors are fundamental pillars in her education and unique references in her work.

Her art focuses on the female human figure, explored through different visual languages such as drawing, graphic arts, painting, and sculpture. Her work begins with narrative and philosophical compositions rich in symbolism and rhetorical figures.

Over the years, she has ventured into various artistic fields: she is a visual artist, illustrator, set designer, and sculptor. However, sculpture has become her most authentic voice, where she delves deeply into the three-dimensional study of forms and the aesthetics of the human body’s lines. She quickly began experimenting with materials that better allowed her to capture movement in her figures. Guided by Hermann and Justo Guggiari, she ventured into iron and bronze sculpture, producing her first castings alongside Beckelmann. Later, she expanded her material repertoire to include paper, ceramics, plaster, cement, wax, marble, and bronze.

Invited by renowned Italian artist Oliviero Rainaldi (born 1956, Caramanico Terme), she further developed her skills in Carrara, Italy, deepening her artistic research.

Ingrid Seall’s work reveals a clear, unique visual language. Her technical mastery has enabled her to establish a distinctive and recognizable artistic signature. From her earliest pieces, she has shown a profound connection to the female figure and bodily expression, focusing on themes such as introspection, the passage of time, maturity, and transformation. The body is the central axis of each sculpture: her object of study and means of expression—a bridge between her inner world and the viewer’s. Seall’s women are intimate yet powerful, vulnerable yet sincere. Through them, an existential quest and enigmatic solitude can be felt, even in her group compositions.

Each sculpture is unique. The arrangement of the figures is deliberately varied, as are the patinas that grant the bronze different tones and textures, enriching the staging of each magical, ethereal character.

A recurring theme in her work is nature, always in dialogue with the human figure. For Seall, creative force is part of nature itself: in the honeycomb of bees, the blossoming flower, the rising mountain, and life itself. She believes Mother Nature, represented across millennia, embodies unparalleled energy and charisma. As the artist states:

“We invent the world we live in. We awaken our sense of motherhood in every act as a force greater than ourselves. When we follow that natural intuition, that instinct, we become empowered. We discover that the energy dwelling in what we love feeds us in return… and that is when the cycle closes and the energy expands into everything around us.”

She has exhibited internationally in France, Mexico, Argentina, Brazil, among other countries. Her works are part of permanent collections in national public institutions such as the Itaú Foundation Art Fund, the Artistic Heritage of the Faculty of Biology, and the Somos Yaguareté Foundation, among others.
